Journal of Optics is a quarterly publication
of the Optical Society of India-a premier association
of scientist and technologists of the country, established
in 1965, and is engaged in the promotion and dissemination
of knowledge of optics in all its branches, pure and applied.
The journal is being regularly published since 1972.
WIDE
DISSEMINATION OF RESEARCH RESULTS
The Journal has wide circulation
in India and abroad among the physicists and technologists
both from academic and research organizations. Manufacturing
organization in the area, in the core and defense sectors,
are also using this journal either through corporate membership
or by subscriptions. The Journal is abstracted and indexed
in all leading physics, electronics and electrical abstracting
periodicals.
SCOPE
The Journal is aimed to
stimulate study and research in fundamental and applied
science related to the problems in optics.
Journal of Optics publishes
Research Papers on results of original and applied research
of sufficient merit in all branches of optical physics
and technology viz, the science of vision, colour, photometry,
illumination, optical/opto-electronics material and devices,
optical testing and standardization, spectroscopy, lasers,
holography, fibre optics, non-linear optics, optical and
opto-electronic systems and instruments, image processing,
optical computing etc. Review articles, literature citations
on various aspects of optics are also welcome. The Optics
News publishes important notification for courses, symposia,
summer and winter schools etc, and for the coming events
in India and abroad, new academic development in University
/ College, new policy and or review of existing policy
of the Government in the area of optical physics.

INFORMATION
FOR CONTRIBUTION
The Journal of Optics publishes original
contributions in the categories: Research papers, Review
papers and Short communications. Each paper is assessed
by independent referees. Short communications must be
brief, timely and important. In the interest of rapid
publication, a short communication is reviewed by one
referee only, often a member of the Editorial Board, whose
decision is final.
Contributions will be considered for publication in the
Journal of Optics if they have not been published previously
and are not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
Manuscripts should be in English. Contributions should
be as concise as possible and should include the following
materials.
Two copies of the manuscript, each including ( i ) Title
page with title of paper, author's name and affiliation
where the work was carried out. [ Present address of any
author, if different from above, should be given as a
foot note ] and ( ii ) an Abstract need to be sent to

Text should be typed with double spacing on one side
of paper with an adequate margin on the left hand side
of the page. References ( on separate Sheet) should be
indicated in the text by number placed in a pair of square-brackets
along side the matter. They must follow the order : initial
followed by last names of author, title of the journal,
volume number, page number and year in brackets. In the
case of books and published reports the names of the author/editor,
the name of publisher, place and year of publication should
also be mentioned. A list of Captions for illustrations
is to be given on a separate sheet. Original should be
in Indian ink on tracing paper or white card. Only glossy
photographs are acceptable. Colour illustrations are not
normally accepted. Authors insisting on colour reproduction
have to bear the extra charges for printing. Lettering
on illustrations should be sufficiently large to remain
legible after reduction in size of an illustration to
accommodate it within the page-width (approx. 12.5 cms.).
Reprints: Authors are entitled to receive 20 copies free
of charge. Further copies may be purchased provided they
are ordered at the time of returning proofs.
