Awarded to a scientist of Indian origin
having made significant contribution in the field of "Optics
and Optoelectronics". Candidates for the said awards
must be members of the OSI for at least last three consecutive
years and must have a membership for at least ten years
in total. Any member may nominate a person who satisfies
the conditions stipulated for the award.

Awarded to a young author
publishing a paper in the "Journal of Optics".
Age of the applicant should be 30 years or below on December
31 of the year concerned. In the case of a publication
authored jointly, one of the authors satisfying the above
age restrictions may apply. The candidates are requested
to send their applications along with their bio-data,
and an attested copy of relevant certificate indicating
age.
