FROM THE BY LAWS REFERRING TO MEMBERSHIP AND DUES
Eligibility : Associates shall be bonafide
students of science in recognized Universities, Institutions,
who shall be interested in optics.
Fellow shall be persons actively engaged
in the development or dessemination of knowledge of optics.
Application for Membership: Application
for membership must state the candidate's name and qualifications
for membership and must be signed by two fellows of the
Society. In case of non-availability of sponsors please
write to Genera Secretary.
Election to Membership: The applicant shall become Associate
Member/Fellow when his/her duly completed application
has received the written approval of the Executive Secretary
of the council.
Duties and Privileges: Associates shall
be entitled to participate in the scientific meetings
of the Society, to read scientific paper if communicated
by a Fellow of the Society and thee receive a copy of
such publications of the society as the council may decide.
Fellows shall be entitled :
(a) To be present and to vote at all
General Meeting of the Society,
(b) To receive a copy of such publications
of the society as the council may decide,
(e) To propose and to second candidates
for Fellowship and Associateships,
(d) To fill any office of the society
on being duly elected thereto,
(e) To participate in the Scientific
Meetings of the Society and
(f) To communicate papers by associates
or others for publication in the Report or Journal of
the Society.
If the dues of any Fellow or Associate
remain un paid for one year he will cease to receive any
publication of the society. After second year of non payment
of dues, the Council after due notice, shall revoke his/her
name from the membership list.
If a fellow, whose name has been removed from the membership
list for non-payment of dues, wishes at any subsequent
date to be re-elected as a new Fellow, he/she will have
to pay up at least one year's due from him/her, before
his/her application can be considered.
The Council shall have power to remove
from the Society and fellow who has been convicted by
a competent tribunal of felony or misdemeanour.
